Hey guys, gals and non-binary pals!
It's been awhile since I've used this blog but it's time for a new and that new is androgynous fashion. As a thrift/vintage stylist and androgynous rave fashion designer, I've decided to re-introduce myself and talk about the last year!
In relation to PR, I am a global fashion media publicist and content creator. Now what does this mean? It means I try to share and publicize different styles and designers I've met during my travels around the world or through social media. As a content creator, I share content rooted in my personal style as well as outfits that inspire people.
My qualifications come from a series of things. In the Fall of 2019, I worked at Disney World in Orlando, FL and had the opportunity to explore underground rave culture and festival wear. After, I spent the Spring of 2020 studying abroad at Barcelona's global media/communications school, Blanquerna. During that time, I had the opportunity to apprentice for Swedish bridal and womenswear designer, Lisa Wixell. With her guidance, I was able to design my first collection and was offered a Master's spot at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA (once I finish my degree at OU). Currently, I work as a freelance creative director for small fashion brands as well as a visual stylist and buyer for Uptown Cheapskate, a brand resale/higher-end thrift store.
What I have most enjoyed during my PR career is the ability to design and create with a platform. With modern social media, I have been able to share my work and meet like-minded creative individuals from around the world and collaborate on projects. In addition, the skills I have gained through writing and graphic design have elevated me and my brand.
I studied PR because I always had affinity for people. I enjoy understanding how to talk and relate to people through fashion and media. I also see it as a major that provides necessary skills, especially when navigating through personal branding and self-marketing.
My main motivation is my dreams and the hopes I have for myself. I believe that a person's number one fan and motivator is themselves. By being assertive and knowing what I go for, I motivate myself to continuously create and style. Experiment and design. Constantly growing and evolving in order to build a fashion brand that I can be proud of but also share with my niche groups.
Currently, I am not involved in any campus activities at the OU Norman campus as I have decided to stay at home in Dallas during the pandemic and so that I can focus on my PR skills, and to grow my brand and network. I am currently working on volunteering at local youth homeless LGBTQIA+ organizations in downtown Dallas.
