Photoshop is a wonderful tool for graphic designers, PR specialists and to any who dabble in design. It can be very taxing and confusing at first but that doesn't make it improbable to learn.
This article by Saikat Basu gives you tips and pointers on how to slowly immerse yourself in Photoshop!
Photoshop has a multitude of uses, including but not limited to:
Graphic design
Image editing
Design/Web mock-ups
Adding effects
and so much more!
It is important to have a clear motivation as to what you're creating. Meaning you should have an idea of who you're creating for and why you are creating it that way!
For my hand out assignment, I learned that Photoshop can be tricky and you may find yourself constantly editing and changing your design concept. As a creative individual, I end up making many edits and changes, therefore for me, it is important to find a basic point of design or a personal template. From there, I work and create multiple edits. additionally, SAVE YOUR WORK! and I can NOT stress this enough.
Below you can see my first hand-out draft.

for my hand-out, I decided to specify my target audience more. I wanted to create a type of invitation to Spanish-speaking international students with an interest in journalism and mass communication. In order to do so, I made sure to have the hand-out appear as if it came from the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Furthermore, I wrote the text in Spanish as I believed it would allow a broader audience and appear more inviting.
